    October 2018

It is hard to believe that we are already one month in to this school year!
The students are hard at work every day and it is a joy to see them as they are learning.  MAP testing for the fall has concluded.  I am so proud of the serious effort that our students displayed on these important diagnostic tools.  These results will allow our staff to plan appropriately for each child.
The teachers continue to commit themselves to providing the best opportunities for the growth of all children.  Mrs. Dobbin and myself have begun participation in a grant which partners us with the resources of the Yonkers School district in understanding and using the new State Standards in Science. Grades 1,2,and 3 teachers will be spending time learning how to begin implementation of a  Remediation and Enrichment period in their classes.  Six  faculty members will be attending an early childhood conference at Manhattanville College on Saturday, October 6.
All lead teachers will have more professional development this month as we join with our fellow Central Westchester Catholic Schools in a 1/2 Day of Learning on October 12.  Ms. Kirsch, our Blended learning coach will begin to work directly with classroom teachers on differentiation using technology as a component.   St. Peter's is grateful that the Blended learning program will continue this year entirely due to the efforts of our Alumni Association which worked to secure the considerable funding.
Overall, learning continues for EVERYONE at St. Peter's!
